The State Forensic Science Bureau has launched the implementation of a European Union co-funded project titled “Strengthening Document Examination Capacity to Combat Fraud, Corruption, Financial and Economic Crime.”
The aim of the project is to enhance the capacity of experts at the State Forensic Science Bureau to provide high-quality forensic evidence in document examinations. This will contribute to more effective investigation of fraud, corruption, and financial and economic crimes, while also improving Latvia’s overall performance in combating such offences.
Within the framework of the project, the following activities are planned:
- development of document dating capabilities;
- upgrading the document examination laboratory with modern equipment;
- improvement of document examination methods.
The project duration is 2 years.
The project is implemented with the support of the European Union Anti-Fraud Programme.
