M. Čentoricka, Director of the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB), participated in the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) Annual Meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland, from 5 to 8 May 2026.

During the meeting, the ENFSI Strategic Plan for 2026–2029, the Action Plan for 2026–2027, and the ENFSI budget for 2027 were discussed and approved. New ENFSI members were also admitted, and new permanent representatives from several European countries were confirmed.

The meeting featured presentations on the latest developments within ENFSI Expert Working Groups, including the fields of DNA analysis, explosives, crime scene investigation, and paint and glass examination. Issues related to research, quality assurance, and training were also discussed.

Particular attention was devoted to the application of artificial intelligence in forensic science. The Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise presented capabilities in drone examinations, while the Kharkiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Examinations shared its experience in ensuring the operation and development of forensic institutions under wartime conditions.

ENFSI is the leading organisation of forensic science institutes in Europe, bringing together 75 forensic institutions from 41 countries. SFSB has been a member of ENFSI since 1998.
