Thanks to the funding of the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial instrument, in March and April of this year, one SFSB forensic expert had the opportunity to upgrade her qualifications during an internship at the Estonian Forensic Science Institute, while two other experts had the opportunity to participate in the Annual meeting of Shoeprint and Toolmarks (SPTM) experts of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and at the training and crash tests of the road traffic accident examination experts.

The events were held within the framework of the European Economic Area Grants 2014–2021 programme "International Police Cooperation and Combating Crime".

The total funding for the project "Strengthening of the capacity of forensic system and inspection of the site of the event" is estimated at 2 680 000 EUR, of which the EEA Grants funding of 85% is 2 278 000 EUR and the national co-financing of 15% is 402 000 euro, complemented by a grant of 171 000 EUR from Fund for bilateral relations under the Norway Grants Programme. The project is to be implemented until April 30 2024.
