From 14 to 18 September this year, as part of the exchange programme of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) hosted Michael Kozlik, a representative of the forensic science laboratory of the Austrian Federal Criminal Police Office.
The main objective of the visit was to exchange experience and best practices between the forensic science laboratories of Latvia and Austria in the fields of forensic palynology and the biological examination of soil.
The CEPOL exchange provided an opportunity to compare the approaches used by the two laboratories, share practical experience, and discuss complex forensic cases. The knowledge and experience gained during the exchange provide a basis for further professional cooperation between Latvian and Austrian colleagues. Cooperation in the fields of forensic palynology and the biological examination of soil is also planned to continue after the completion of the exchange programme.
